Overall, NPC has the second-highest completion rate of college-level work among the state\u2019s community college districts!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-100\" src=\"http:\/\/npc.mycareerfocus.org\/fall-2019-volume-5-issue-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/05\/NumberOne_web-168x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"168\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/npc.mycareerfocus.org\/fall-2019-volume-5-issue-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/05\/NumberOne_web-168x300.jpg 168w, https:\/\/npc.mycareerfocus.org\/fall-2019-volume-5-issue-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/05\/NumberOne_web.jpg 468w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 168px) 100vw, 168px\" \/>NPC\u2019s 86.2 percent completion rate for Composition II (<i>English 102)\u00a0<\/i>and 89.6 percent completion rate for College Algebra <i>(MAT 152)<\/i> ranked highest among Arizona\u2019s community colleges. The statewide community college average for College Algebra was 65.4 percent, and<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">the statewide average for Composition II was 77 percent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">NPC ranked a very close second to Cochise College (78.7 percent) in English Composition I with a 78.0 percent figure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">These rankings appear in <i>Arizona\u2019s Strategic Vision\u00a02030<\/i>, which creates a framework for the state\u2019s community colleges to reach the Achieve 60 AZ goal of having 60 percent of Arizona\u2019s working-age population possess a post-secondary credential by 2030.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/achieve60az.com\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans Bold';\">https:\/\/achieve60az.com<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans Bold';\">Paying It Forward, Making a Difference<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-103\" src=\"http:\/\/npc.mycareerfocus.org\/fall-2019-volume-5-issue-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/05\/AZGivesLogo_web-300x186.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"186\" srcset=\"https:\/\/npc.mycareerfocus.org\/fall-2019-volume-5-issue-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/05\/AZGivesLogo_web-300x186.jpg 300w, https:\/\/npc.mycareerfocus.org\/fall-2019-volume-5-issue-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/05\/AZGivesLogo_web.jpg 564w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Generous Arizonans recently showed their support for higher education in a big<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">way! On April 2, <b>Arizona Gives Day<\/b>, they donated more than $25,000 to North-land Pioneer College for <b>student scholarships<\/b>. These gifts were leveraged by incentive bonuses of over $8,000, stretching the total donations to <b>$33,837<\/b>, our\u00a0all-time high for this event and ranking NPC third among small nonprofits in the state! With NPC\u2019s coverage area spread over the state\u2019s two poorest counties, these scholarship funds are making a <i>major difference<\/i> in the lives of our students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">NPC graduates are making a difference locally by making significant contributions in their communities as nurses,<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">firefighters, public safety officers, teachers, dentists and business people and in many other ways.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">Area businesses are also showing tremendous support for NPC students. <b>Summit Healthcare<\/b> provided an incred<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">ibly generous corporate challenge match of $5,000! <b>The House Show Low<\/b> provided beefy support for higher educa<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">tion by adding the \u201cNPC Smart Burger\u201d to its menu and donating a portion of the proceeds to scholarships. <b>The Red\u00a0<\/b><b>Barn Creamery<\/b> also offered a sweet deal by donating a portion of its proceeds from the sales of ice cream to NPC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\"><b>Betsyann Wilson<\/b>, executive director of <b>NPC Friends &amp; Family<\/b>, says, \u201cYour gifts help us make post-secondary<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">education accessible to those students who need it most, breaking the cycle of poverty and low levels of educational attainment. Every dollar you donate is truly life-changing.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">NPC has helped educate and transform the lives of northeastern Arizona communities for over 45 years. Many of<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">our graduates understand the importance of <b>paying it forward<\/b> and helping <i>current<\/i> students attain the quality education they received at NPC. Wilson says, \u201cMany people think they can\u2019t give enough to make a difference. But that is not true, no gift is too small, and many gifts added together make a big difference in students\u2019 lives. NPC has<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">the lowest tuition rate in the state, so small donations are able to help many more students.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">You don\u2019t need to wait until the next Arizona Gives Day 2020 to make a difference.
