Today he is\u00a0serving the dental needs of people in the White Mountains\u00a0and is active in serving the community. He was the spring\u00a02018 winner of the <span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans Bold';\">NPC Outstanding Alumnus Award<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">Adams excelled academically while attending NPC from 2003 to 2004 and used that solid educational foundation to transfer to Northern Arizona University (NAU).<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">In 2007 he earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in biomedical science with minors in Spanish and chemistry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">Looking back on his NPC education, Dr. Adams calls it \u201cpriceless.\u201d \u201cNPC was one of the places that taught me how to study and how to communicate with teachers who<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">were willing to help me succeed. If I had it to do all over again, I\u2019d start with NPC in a heartbeat.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">It took a few applications for Adams to get into dental<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">school. Diverted temporarily to other fields of employ<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">ment, he never lost sight of his ultimate career destination.<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">In 2012, at the age of 30, Adams was accepted to the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. He gradu-ated in 2016 and received the Student Award of Merit for his work in esthetics from the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. In July 2016, Adams began working full-time with his father, Dr. Trent Adams, at Adams Family Dental in Show Low.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>\u201cI\u2019m very happy with what I\u2019m doing,\u201d Adams says. \u201cHaving my dad as a mentor is great and I have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of patients with language barriers since I also studied Spanish. I<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">enjoy serving the underserved.\u201d Dr. Adams has volunteered free dentistry services for hundreds of patients <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">in Mexico.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">The staff also includes his wife <span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans Bold';\">Shelly Adams<\/span>, a<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">dental hygienist and former NPC student as well. She<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">too praises NPC for keeping higher education affordable<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">and for giving students the tools they need to succeed in<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">their professional lives. \u201cNPC was great for me. The instructors truly cared and prepared me with the skills I needed to move forward in my educational goals. My<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">NPC biology class prepared me to go to NAU, and classes there were easier because of what I was taught here at NPC.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">Persist in the pursuit of your dreams, Dr. Adams says,<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">adding, \u201cIf what you\u2019re doing isn\u2019t working, make changes.<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">If you have a hard time succeeding, don\u2019t be afraid to change strategies to achieve your goals.
